For our client having the problem, Postini is setup in "proxy" mode. When a connection is made to Postini vis SMTP, they in turn connect to the client's actual mail server. If they have any communication problems with the client's mail server, they disconnect the incoming connection from your SMTP mail server as well. The error they generate when they drop the connection is a "301". It seems we had a fault NIC in the client's mail server, causing Postini to drop the connection consistently.

Error 301 Interrupted - Can't find anywhere

We are having terrible trouble with a client who is seeing delays of several hours for emails having an attachment (1 or 2 mb). If I send direct to their smtp gateway, it works fine. If I send through Postini I get a 301 error every time. I've searched SMTP RFC's and can not find a 301 error for SMTP. Postini also does not know what it means.
Sent message to another client using postini (different MX) and get the same error. Now I'm not sure if it's a problem or not. Anyone?

Here is the log output (same for both clients):
....................
SMTP Diagnostics Report
7/6/2007 5:49:46 PM
....................
From email address: eric.burke@iawfs.com
To email address: jpolicastro@wolffsamson.com
Outgoing mail server (SMTP): wolffsamson.com.s6a1.psmtp.com
Port: 25
Attachments: I:\Information Architects\Documents\Client Documents\Wolff & Samson\2006-01-24, Original Network - Infrastructure from MB.vsd;
Subject: EGB-DIAG-ATTACH-DIRECT
Message:
Send test from SMTP Diagnostics.
....................
Connecting to mail server.
Connected.
220 Postini ESMTP 129 y6_10_10c2 ready.
