Hi David,
I'm embarrassed to say this...the find/replace has been fixed but I didn't post a new release. I'm truly sorry. I've been focusing on version 2 as well as other things and it slipped my mind. I'll package up a new version 1.x release and get it posted within the next couple of days if not sooner.
Thank you for the reminder and kick in the butt.

| I have been testing the software before purchase. As I said before, the find replace feature is huge for me.
Maybe I am missing something, but I am having the following problem.
I need to create columns of data that is similar, with minor changes. So I create 1 column, then copy and paste that data in a new column next to it. Then I use find replace to make a small change to the data in the new column. The only problem is it also changes the data in the 1st column also. (If I select "replace all). Typically (in excel) I can highlight the fields I want to use "find replace" in, and it will only effect those fields. I guess Killink does not work like that.
Is their an easier way (in Killink) than I am doing it? |

You're not missing anything. The find and replace does not limit the search to the selected area. The primary reason for this is that I wasn't able to get the selected region shading to draw correctly when performing a find. This should be resolved in version 2.
Hmmm, I'm wondering if current users will not care if the selected region shading is not displayed while doing a find + replace next? Guess I could always make the change and see if anyone complains.

| Hi David,
I came up with a compromised between having the selection region draw the way I want it and providing a way to restrict the find replace to the selection region. The Replace All and Count will restrict their respective actions to the selected cells. If no cells are selected then these 2 actions will be applied to the entire file. This is not exactly how Excel works, but it is similar. At least now you can accomplish the scenario outlined earlier in this thread.
A better approach that works with the other Find actions (Find Next, Previous, etc) should be available in version 2 of Killink CSV.
Download the latest (version 1.14) to get this enhanced Replace All and Count feature:

| Thanks so much. I am very impressed that you quickly added that feature.
I am going to make the purchase now. Just so you know, I am a user of e-commerce templates.
A company that offers mods for them (ecom-mods dot com) highly recommends your software. I use HTML in some of my csv cells, and using excel can be a nightmare creating CSV files for bulk upload of product to my online stores.
My job is now much easier, and your product is well worth the money. THANKS! I will tell others about your software also. |

No problem at all. Actually I should have done the change sooner. I was originally waiting until version 2 but since that is taking longer than expected...

Good folks at ecom-mods. They are an affiliate reseller for Killink CSV. If you buy through their web site they get a few dollars for the reference. It's a good way to spread the love.

That's great to hear. Let me know if there are other ways Killink CSV can be improved to make your job even easier.
